Pepsi skips Superbowl Ad’s for social media

Pepsi has decided not to advertise this year at the superbowl, so they can dedicate more resources to Social Media. Then again who wouldn’t, Social Media is an entire shift in the way we communicate. Soon, we will stop searching for products and they will find us via social media. A superbowl ad will cost you between $2.5 million and $3 million, and get seen by 93.2 million people (last year’s Super Bowl). Where as a social media campaign will cost you less, and get seen by many more. Twitter alone has 18 million users, throw in myspace, facebook, linked in and the numbers skyrocket. Facebook has over 200 Million users. The numbers are incredible. Not only that but you can target the exact audience most likely to buy. I think this was a good move on Pepsi’s part.

Now, who’s playin in the Superbowl again?
