Catching Up

Wow, so its been a few months and I hope you are all doing well. So much has happened in such a short time, the Ipad wasn’t as much of a flop as much of the internet (myself included) thought, the Iphone 4g gets leaked by our friends over at gizmodo, an oil spill.

So I got to play with the Ipad for a few hours the other day and I have to say I am considering purchasing one. I messed around with it the day it came out and I thought it was cool, I have to say the product is growing on me as more apps become available. Ive been doing a bunch of work interacting with customers lately and I was sitting thinking “Man it would be great if I had an Ipad to take my notes with”. For those of you who don’t know me, my handwriting is atrocious. In fact it is so bad that it actually has been questioned if I was writing english text, or possibly hieroglyphics. So there I was Ipad in hand and I started messing with the Notepad program, and I have to say it wasn’t half bad. I could actually get used to it and I think it would increase my note takeing by atleast +5 (Chance to crit increased by 10).

Some of the other things I have been toying around with is some new 3d TV stuff and OMFG has anyone seen the new Samsung 55 inch 3D LED-LCD HDTV 1080P. Holy freakin crap.  The Picture on it is beyond sweet. Then again for the $6,299.98 Price tag that goes with it, it better be. I swear that thing is lighter than my Droid.

Speaking of Droid (Yes, here it comes Dan and Charlie), I’m so freaking ticked off that this thing right now I can’t even see straight. Since applying the new update there has been nothing but issues (but hey, we’ve got multitouch and a better picture gallery). From the slider to answer the phone’s image being SIDEWAYS (um, hello), to just overall decreased speed and reliability issues. I’m a little bit upset. I love the android platform, and everything Google touches is gold. However, there needs to be some new fixes from Google on some of this stuff. As difficult as it is for me to say, I am planning on getting the new Iphone 4G when it comes out next month (Yes, Steve Jobs….We Know.).  Android will always hold a special place in my heart, but that new Iphone is gonna be sick! (Check back in a few days for a write up on that new little toy).

Steve Jobs talking Smack???

Steve Jobs

According to Wired Magazine, Steve Jobs was caught talking smack. He was addressing an audience of Apple Employees at a town hall meeting in Cupertino, where he apparently let into Google, and Adobe. This is not that suprising, coming from the same man who said that Microsoft “Made third rate products” (Not that we really disagree with him on some of their stuff…IE). In the past hes also said Microsoft had no taste, to which I disagree, (Case in point: Surface Computing). This time he has gone a little too far, saying Google’s Mantra of “Don’t be evil”, is “Bullshit”. Personally, I think the only part of Google that I have had a problem with is them helping the Chinese censor the internet, but that has stopped, Hey at least they are trying. Then he goes further on to say that Adobe is “Lazy” and that “Apple does not support Flash because it is so buggy. Whenever a Mac crashes more often than not it’s because of Flash. No one will be using Flash. The world is moving to HTML5.” Personally, I don’t see where he got that they are “Lazy” considering your talking about the people who brought you Dreamweaver, Adobe Air, Coldfusion and on and on. In fact, I think that Adobe is a pretty awesome company.

Now I have loved every product that Apple has come out with. I am even considering a Macbook Pro as my next laptop purchase, but I have made it no secret that I think the Ipad is crap. This little hissy fit thrown by Jobs really comes at a bad time for apple, considering that #Ipad is one of the most talked about things on twitter and elsewhere in the Social Media Arena. I love Steve Jobs, he’s one of my heros. I do however think this was bad form on his part.

Google and HTC to release IPad Rival running Android

The Google Tablet? Thank God!

So, as I was getting ready for bed tonight I prayed my bedtime prayers. I said “God, you know how we all feel about this crappy Ipad, thingy. God, if you could, please inspire someone to make a better E-Reader/ Tablet, and if you could, please make it run Android.” Well it appears God answers all prayers. Apparently HTC and Google are planning to make an Ipad rival in the coming months. HTC and Google have been working closely on touch screen projects for the last several months. Rumor has it that they are planning to release this product in short order. According to reports they already have several versions of a prototype that were shown privately to core customers at CES. The prototype apparently is running a new Qualcomm processor, and will feature new software from Adobe.

So what do you think? Will this compete with the Ipad? Possibly Kill it? Drop me a comment and let me know what you think!
